Mona Reeder
Mona Reeder excelled as a sales representative for many major brands, but her spirit is truly entrepreneurial. Mona follows her passion, and doesn’t quit until she gets what she wants. She met her husband of 38 years on a blind date and married him after only three months! This mother of three hit the ground running and has never slowed down. In the early years, she and her husband purchased and renovated homes for resale. This entailed a lot of work and a lot of moving. After settling in Sonoma County, she focused on sales and other positions within the corporate and the non-profit arena. After turning 50, when Mona found herself overworked and underpaid, with no time and no energy, she knew she needed to make some changes.
Mona’s new venture came about after her daughter read an article on Home Staging in the local paper, and encouraged her to find out more about it. After investigating the opportunity, Mona obtained the necessary credentials, and Amazing Staging™ was born. Her company offers Staging and Redesign solutions for both realtors and homeowners. As an entrepreneur, her honed sales and management skills have been proven invaluable. Home Staging was a new niche in her geographic area. Not one to waste time, a week after completing her credentials, she had her business cards and her promotional material printed, her http://www.amazingstaging.com website built, and signage made for her car. She began networking with every real estate agent in town and gave presentations to real estate companies. In short order, real estate publications began to feature both Mona and her work!
This petite powerhouse of combined talents now has two crews working with her, a 2500 sq. ft. warehouse with furnishings for 12+ houses, a custom designed 24 ft. moving truck, a growing clientele, and has been able to bring her husband into the business as well. Although each day is extremely long and physically challenging, Mona is grateful to find herself in the enviable position of having to refer some of her excess jobs to other up- coming Stagers.
So, how did she do it? She investigated the opportunity, obtained the credentials, worked with a coach, interviewed successful Stagers, and drew up a business plan. After researching the market and the obstacles to success, she formed a plan to overcome those obstacles and created marketing materials and presentations tailored to support the benefits she offered. She hired a bookkeeping service, a website and a signage designer. After careful design and review of her unique business style, Mona decided early on to distinguish herself from the other Stagers in the local area. With uniformity in logo, photos, website, vehicle signage, use of color in all printed materials and promotional advertising she began the process of branding herself and Amazing Staging™. She placed her logo on her own clothes and wears her nametag everywhere. She writes articles and submits them to industry publications. And, she enthusiastically speaks about her new enterprise to everyone she meets, both through networking and in her presentations to the industry.
She works hard to ensure that her clients get not only a beautiful home, but the best possible service as well. As a result, she is often recommended as “the Staging Company who does it right.” Amazing Staging™ has been dubbed as “The Premier Staging Company” by Mona’s loyal clients so the phrase was added to her website to reinforce this concept to the potential clients who visit her site.
Mona’s advice, in her own words – “Get your attitude, drive and desire together and make a business plan! Confide in a person who knows you well and tuck her under your arm for advice, encouragement and motivation. Make sure you have seed money and the knowledge to go and get the expert advice you will eventually need. Wrap your heart around your vision. Each day evaluate what you did and plan to do!”
I wouldn’t be surprised if Mona packaged her winning strategy and started yet another business. I’m sure it would be another hit!
