Does any of this sound familiar? I’m going to lose 10 pounds, I’m going to eat more healthily, I’m going to exercise, I’m going to volunteer, I’m going to write a book, I’m going to be more spontaneous, I’m going to take a class, I’m going to balance my check book, I’m going to call that career coach, and I’m going to send that donation. Have any of these ever passed your lips or crossed your mind? You feel committed in the moment, you feel the power and excitement of the positive changes that will take place in your life as a result. You feel good about yourself.

And then you say or think…I’ll do it tomorrow …and plop down in front of the T.V. congratulating yourself on your plans and what will be the new you.

Then tomorrow comes and the alarm goes off. The work out clothes you dutifully laid out the night before continue to lay there as you reach out and turn off the alarm and think…I’ll start it tomorrow.

Or how about that piece of cheese/pie/croissant/wine in the refrigerator that will go to waste if you don’t eat or drink it. “OK,” you say. I’ll begin dieting tomorrow.

Then, perhaps, you are out shopping for a gift. You know you are short of funds this month, but it’s almost as if a shaft of light is illuminating the armoir that would be perfect in your bedroom. You’ve promised yourself that you are going to stay within your budget. But, it’s ON SALE! So, you say, “I’ll start it tomorrow.”

As you turn off the alarm clock you don’t rest as well, that cheese and glass of wine don’t taste as good, and the joy you thought you’d feel when that armoir is delivered is tinged with guilt.

By now you definitely get the picture. Changing just one little word can change your life. You will like and respect yourself. You will trust yourself. You may even live longer if getting fit was your goal.
