I’m excited! And when I get excited, I like to share!
Since we are all about inspiration here at 50Fabulous.com, I want to tell you about an article written by the Boston Globe’s Don Aucoin about the technologies being developed to make our progressing years even more fabulous.
For instance, hearing aids are now called “personal communication assistants.” I love that! They are tiny, sit behind the ear and only a thin clear tube pops down into your ear and look like many of the headsets the kids are wearing. And, they come in a variety of colors. You can get more information about Audéo on their website http://www.hearingplanet.com/phonak-audeo.html
There is also a product MIT’s AgeLab has developed called “Smart Personal Advisor.” By scanning the barcode, you can make informed nutrition choices at the supermarket. Any age group could benefit from this! If you are caring for aging parents, check this out. http://web.mit.edu/agelab/projects_wellness.shtml#3
And, if you need to wear reading glasses for any reason, don’t those tiny keypads on cell phones drive you nuts? Now, GreatCall, Inc. offers the Jitterbug…no frills, just large dialing buttons.

Moving on to other news fronts…Samantha Gross of the Associated Press, wrote about a wonderful program that is taking advantage of the work experience of the retirement age workforce in New York City and putting them back to work in very interesting ways. Check out http://www.reserveinc.org.
