It is no longer enough to consult with sales associates at cosmetic counters or clothing stores. They most often do not have the expertise necessary to address our needs at 50 and over.

Discuss Michele Benza’s column.

Thank you Brenda. It always feels good when we take steps to look and feel our best. Maintenance gets more important as we age, but it’s always fun to try something new too. Stay sharp, be healthy, stay Fabulous!

i have decided, that yes, its time to do something about my style!!
at age 62, i dont want to look like my daughter, but i do want to look youthful!
not old lady!!!!
so, iam experimenting with new looks in makeup, and trying on alot more cloths lately..
iam not buying yet, but iam surfing the styles that would look good on me for my age..
i seem to look best in classics, and simple lines..
not alot of print, iampetite, so i do have to watch that!
embelishment on a small person is not a good thing, maybe if your 12..
color, well iam working on that too..
for years ive always been confused on that one!!
am i cool, am i warm???????
gee, i think the woman who came up with that, had a great idea, but it needs to be more clear to some of us!!
i have to wear a more cool foundation, ive been checking with makeup counters in dept stores, and they all seem to put a cool foundation on me, so i feel that works!
but, i dont know about the rest??
my eyes are blue, hair sandy light brown..
anyway, iam haveing fun checking all this out when i have time….

I am trying to update my look and I think, too that I look best in classic styles. I love Ralph Lauren and have been lucky to be finding it at great prices. I wear lots of Dockers for work (construction management). I think it’s important to reflect yourself in your clothes otherwise you look and feel out of sorts. In heels, I am a disaster. I look and feel ridiculous in flouncy skirts or blouses with ruffles. So I steer away from those things. I used to have a lot of trouble finding clothes that weren’t too young but I think once you hit on some designers that you love, you can achieve the look you want.

i do agree!
its finding the classic look, that looks good on you!
i wear dockers alot myself, my most fave actress, is diann keton, in the movie somethings gotta
give!!
i loved her classic looks, casual, but classic..
i have tried a little rufle this summer season, and i dont care for it, as much as i thought i might..
my style is not ruffles..
i do like a sleve, since my arms now wave hello and goodby!
3/4 is great for me..
so, for fall, iam wearing more dockers, and stright leg jeans, blouses with 3/4 sleeves.
loafers or flats..
i dont care to much for a skirt, but i will invest in a pincle skirt for fall..
a dress, i have not found one yet, that looks good on me…
i have give away, or sold most all my jogging suits, and sweat shirts!
no more of those…
i do love nice sweaters, and sweater sets,a cardigan on cold days..
i bought a new handbag the other day, in a grey color, that will take me into early fall..
also, a pair of nice flats, in a greytone matalic..
will look good with jeans or dockers..

Yes! Pencil skirts are a good choice too. I need to stick to something around the knee. I am 5’2” and long skirts look terrible on me.
I love to accessorize with pearls. I think a string of pearls gives a classy look. And sweaters and cardigans are great! I love to pair them with a nice button down blouse.

sounds like we think alike!!
i can not wear the long skirts myself, iam only 5ft..
but, ive learned i look good in stright leg pants, such as dress pants and jeans..
no bell bottoms for me anymore…
i love a henley shirt, or button down blouse.
pearl studs, and a classy handbag and shoes…
all this makes me feel like a well dressed women, not kidish..
i love all the new trends when the weather changes, but iam learning to make it fit my age, body, and style..
