Here in Vancouver, Spring is pretty much here. Every day is getting warmer. So that means summer is just around the corner.

Along with summer, come the summer clothes. That means shorts and skorts. Are you ready for summer or are you going to be wearing long pants and long skirts?

Peter asked me to write this post for him. This is my 1st post on the blog. He thought the post should have a woman’s prospective.

Many women hate to wear shorts because they suffer from having too much cellulite. Apparently, most of us women have cellulite, in fact over 90% do. It affects women of all ages. I can’t imagine having to go through a summer of hot weather wearing long pants and long skirts. Shorts are really where it’s at. Frankly, when the weather gets warm, I like to wear shorts or skorts pretty much everyday. If I wear a sun dress, no nylons. So what can you do to reduce the appearance of cellulite? Plenty.

While I have cellulite, it is minimal. In fact, 8 years ago before I started to watch my diet and exercise, I had more cellulite than I do now. I attribute that to a number of things. I eat a fairly good diet, am not over weight and I exercise regularly. Along with working out at the gym with Peter, I walk our 2 dogs for 30 minutes each and every day. All in all, I am usually active doing something. By the way, I do this while holding down a full-time job. So using the excuse of having no time does not work well with me.

There are many ways to address the cellulite issue. I have chosen exercise. Cosmetic surgery may be something I consider down the road. But not now. For now, it is diet and exercise. Peter likes videos in the posts, so I found one regarding how to reduce the appearance of cellulite. I think you will find it to be informative. Here is the link - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TeHSOuEW8l0

So, I hope you found the video to be helpful. If cellulite bothers you, you still have time to reduce the appearance of it before it is summer and you want to wear the shorts. However, you need to take action now, before its too late. The weather here is so nice that I am going to begin sorting my summer clothes. I hate those winter clothes.

I just joined this website. Specifically, because I’m looking for a forum where I can share frustrations, get advise, vent, etc. There seems to be very, VERY little on the Internet for women 50+ that isn’t dating or relationship related. I’m not looking for dates or a partner, I’m looking for an “online community” of intelligent women that are past the everything-is-a-big-deal, drama queen phase. So ... here goes…

I’ve been working a long time—30+ years—but I just turned 50 last fall. Of the 62 people in my office, there are only 8 of use that are 40 years of age or older. One of my closest friends is a woman in her late 20’s. However, over the past couple of weeks, I’m feeling more and more like her pseudo-mom rather than a close friend. She has gotten closer to a couple other women in the office who are also in the late 20’s. Of course, that makes sense to me! However, I’m feeling as though she’s (unconsciously?) pulling away from our friendship.

In general, I don’t make close friends easily. I’m a very private person and not your typical I’ll-tell-my-whole-life-story-to-anyone-who-will-listen female.

I’m not sure if I’m looking for advise or just seeing if other women in their 50’s have experienced the same thing.

Either way, feel free to comment.

I seem to have re invented myself many times over in the last few years. I went from raising kids and working part time while married to the same man for 25 years, to seperating and going through a 5 year divorce, living on my own and learning how to make all the decisions, to dating and now living with someone new. My kids are grown and I have a grandchild who I love to play with. My boyfriend, (that sounds so weired because he is 67) is retired and so he is the one left at home all day while I work, seems to always have a agenda that needs to be done when I get home. I have to admit sometimes I miss those days of living on my own with no one else to consider. I think now the re invention of me is learning to balance his being home, with my need for some space! Gardening helps, but need to find other outlets. Plus middle age hormones seem to wreak havoc with my emotion’s

I don’t know that much about “gardening”, but I know that if you want a way to sooth your soul, just stick your hands into the dirt and feel all your worries leave you for a little while. gardening is what I love to do when life seems to be a little too much. It gives you space to be by yourself, because lets face it when you go outside to pull the weeds, everyone disappears!!!! It also gives you a chance to crate something beautiful! Just by putting a bright flower in some-kind of pot, (you don’t have to buy anything expansive) you can brighten any area. Mowing the lawn is instant gratifications because it looks beautiful when done, and you get some exercise too. But the best thing in the world is just getting a shovel and digging!!!!!!!! If you are angry dig deep, if you are worried about something dig shallow and smooth out all the little “Things” and somehow you will feel better for it. My yard should look fantastic with all the time I spend in it, but it doesn’t. It looks more like me. A little scattered, with spots that need work, but for the most part taken care of and well loved.
