50+Fabulous Website Features Mid-Life Women Breaking Barriers for Future Generations of Women

SONOMA COUNTY, Calif. – October 18, 2006 – 50+Fabulous announced today the launch of a new website, http://www.50Fabulous.com/, the only lifestyle website built by and for 50+ women. The website inspires and motivates women 50 years of age and above to renew their sense of self, go after and achieve their dreams, turbo charge their lives, and break down barriers for future generations of women.

This unique website gives 50+ women access to information tailored to their lives and lifestyles. Featured columnists are professionals who are not only experts in their chosen fields, but skilled educators who have agreed to share their expertise and insight. Topics covered include health, fitness, motivation, work, finance, relationships, home, garden, fashion, beauty, food and wine.

Until 2014, a boomer will turn 50 every seven seconds and more than half of those will be women. According to the Harris Pollâ #40, dated May 12, 2005, 63 million people 50 and over access the internet and at least 50% of these are women (~31 million). The Neilson NetRatings in 2002 stated that women account for 52% of home Internet users and women over 50 are among the fastest growing groups online.

50+Fabulous was founded by Pattie Heisser in 2005. As a veteran in both marketing and communications, she realized that she and other 50+ women were no longer a target market. As a baby boomer, her generation was accustomed to being at the center of attention, so it came as quite a shock to realize that women over 50 seemed to vanish. Little is geared toward them although they are the fastest growing population. Women are hungry for information as they graduate into their 50+ years.

These women are vital, savvy, smart, and experienced. Yet, although this demographic represents a huge population and the greatest percentage of dollars spent, business continues to ignore this group as not only a viable target market, but their most desirable market! We’d like to help change that.”
