Leslie Shankman-Cohn is a partner in the firm of Jill Hertz Interior Design located in Memphis, Tennessee. The firm specializes in remodeling and renovations; custom designed furniture; space planning; furnishings and finishes specifications; universal design; “Aging in Style”; and sustainable design issues.

As a designer, writer and speaker, Leslie has been interviewed on TV and radio. Her work has been featured in local and national newspapers, magazines, and in the recently released book, Spectacular Homes of Tennessee.

Leslie is a Registered Interior Designer by the State of Tennessee, certified by the National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ), and a Professional member of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID). As a Certified Aging in Place Specialist (CAPS), she has been appointed to the ASID’s national committee on “Aging in Place”, which is setting the standard for the society’s platform on designing for the aging population.

She is a Past-President of the Tennessee Chapter of ASID and a board member of the Tennessee Interior Design Coalition (TIDC) which is dealing with legislative issues. Leslie sits on the advisory board of Stir Magazine, a division of Sherwin Williams Paint Company and serves on the board of director’s for two local non-profit environmental groups.

Awards include: 2006 Kenneth C Kimbrough Award of Excellence and 2005 Designer of the Year by the Tennessee Chapter of ASID, the Gold Award for her entry in the Tennessee ASID Design Competition in 1999, the 2003 ADEX Silver Award from Design Journal Magazine, and the 2002 Tennessee Chapter Community Service Award.
