Joan Pleuss is a Registered Dietitian, holds her Master’s Degree in Nutrition & Food Science, is a Certified Diabetes Educator, and has over 35 years experience in the field of nutrition. She is currently the Bionutritionist for the General Clinical Research Center at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW). Joan is also an instructor at MCW and Mount Mary College, as well as a Nutrition Consultant to TOPS®, the oldest international, non-profit, non-commercial weight- loss support group.

Joan has been widely published in both academia and industry; is a frequent guest lecturer for professional associations, government, academia and the community; works extensively with the American Dietetic Association; and has garnered the Medallion Award, the Wisconsin Dietetic Association’s top honor.

Joan remembers when nutrition was not the hot topic it is today. When her love of cooking and her mother’s gentle nudging guided her into what would become a life-long passion for nutrition, her friends thought she would be bored to death! Joan has been gratified to see the field move to center stage, especially in recent years, as everyone is catching on to the value of nutrition for living well. Doing a TV interview is now a common activity for her. She rounds out a distinguished work life with her love of travel, the symphony, plays, fine dining and golf. And, she is able to keep up with her 30 year old nephew on the ski slopes!
